Laptop Repairs and Upgrades

We at HCR know that getting repairs to your laptop can be a painful and costly process. This could be due to a shortage of good laptop technicians or the fact that many still believe they can and should charge high fees for their services. Well we don't.

Here at HCR, we don't believe in over pricing our services or repairs. We do our best to not only keep our prices down, we have one of the fasted turn arounds per job in Bristol.

We do have a minimum charge of £20 which is a basic diagnostic fee. But you will be pleased to know that this fee isn't added to the final cost if you opt to go ahead with the repair(s). This is only charged in the event if you choose not to have the repair(s) done with us.

We also try to be as transparent with our costing per job where possible as we do not charge by the hour. To charge per repair will give you the opportunity to make an informed decision from the onset.

Please note that giving the price up front isn't always possible as some repairs are only established once it's actually repaired. In these cases, you will be given an estimate and give you the opportunity to take it from there.

Please find below a rough price guide to our repairs:

Virus Removal: virus infections, if left untreated can, at best make your system unstable and at worst, stop it from running. We have a basic virus removal program where we remove the hard drive from the system, place the hard drive in one of our custom built virus free computers and scan with Kaspersky anti virus. Kaspersky places top two and is one of the best AV's on the market. Click here to see the full list.

If infections are found, they are removed, hard drive is returned to your laptop and your current anti-virus removed and Kaspersky installed.

Please note that a full 12month version of Kaspersky is included with any

Dulux Service Package we have on offer.

Cost: £55 for basic virus removal. If we have to tune laptop to increase speed, this will be classed as a software service package which cost £55 and includes a trial version of Kaspersky.

Spyware Removal: From our experience, we find some types of spyware propably the most difficult to repair/remove. Spyware can range from just basic tracking of websites and your surfing habits to plain stealing your details with keyloggers.

The general problem with spyware is that most window based systems probably have some kind of spyware without knowing. Spyware can be embedded in peer2peer (p2p) downloading software like limewire, sharebear and using these to download really do put you at risk of being infected. Click here for more info on p2p.

In this day and age, if your connected to the internet, you need to have a more than adaquate anti-virus and good spyware protection. We have tested many, many spyware protection programs and have come across the same thing all the time. This being, the most popular programs not always being the most effective. We conduct our own tests just so that we know what we are talking about and only recommend what we think is best.

In the event that sourcing components take longer that anticipated, you will always be kept informed of progress.
