Anti-Virus & Internet Security SoftwareThe objective of a security software is to protect your system from malware-code - created by unknown persons to steal, destroy or expose your personal information. And in order to protect against these intrusions, you require good security software with high detections and deletion capabilities. If it fails on any of these above then it's quite pointless having security protection on your system.Whether you have a high speed broadband connection or a dial up phone/internet then you require some type of protection your system. We, at Home Computer Repairs complete -on average -300 software services on PCs and Laptops per month which consist of: virus and spyware removal, system tune ups/speeds, service pack 3 - SP3 - removal/repairs, Blue Screen Of Death - BSOD - and lost/deleted files. The common denominator in most of these cases are poor security, out of date protection or no virus/spyware protection at all. In the last 4 years, we have found the biggest offenders to be Norton, Mc Afee, PC Guard - Virgin and Avast as these have been proven to have low detection rates, heavy on resources and low deletion capabilities. As a result, we at home computer repairs do not use or recommend any these mentioned above security software.

We are not afraid to list what AVs we believe produce the better results and nor do we shy away from naming and shaming software that we think do not offer value for your money.
